Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' Gets 15-Minute Ovation at Cannes

Controversial film-maker Michael Moore's new documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 was given an unprecedented 15-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday. The film - which is vying for the Palm D'Or at the glitzy French event - looks at the links between President George W. Bush and the Bin Laden family, as well as the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners of war by American servicemen.

Amid the controversy stirred up by Disney's decision not to distribute the film, the audience - which included Kill Bill beauty Darryl Hannah and rocker Mick Jagger - demonstrated their approval by hollering "Bravo" and clapping the piece for over 15 minutes. Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein - who is vying to buy the film from Disney and distribute it via another company - enthuses, "It was the longest standing ovation I've seen in over 25 years."

Yeah, me too.

I'm just surprised that it received a 15 minute ovation. I guess Moore does have fans out there.

I have to disagree you. Moore takes aim at everyone. Not just republicans. Even though Moore is considered far leftwing, he has gone after democrats and republicans alike. Case in point: Clintons White water deal. Basically when something is wrong......It's wrong!! Moore exposes that.

Look .......the bottom line is the man at the helm of this country needs to go before he sinks the ship. Moore's film exposes the truth.....and the truth hurts man. 80% of Americans sleep well at night cause they trust the US media and believe everything they see and hear coming from from the white house.

The rest of the world is laughing at us while we keep sticking our foot in our mouths. What has taken place the last four years by Bush and his cabinet will take DECADES!! if not longer to repair

.....There is no simple solution to the problems Bush has caused and started in countries abroad and in our own backyard. Think that Kerry will come in and save the day???......I doubt it, but we do need the change.

Weather Kerry lasts 4 years or 8 years it won't matter cause like I said.....the damage has been done and will take decades to repair. :-[

The real debate here is ultimately government censorship. Disney is refusing to distribute the film b/c they fear of being hit in the purse & losing tax incentives from the Bush Administration. I'm sorry but when the federal government starts stifling decent & flexing it's muscle to prevent dissemination of information --- it is unacceptable. I can't believe more people are not appalled by what is happening.

I could really care less about Michael Moore's message. I doesn't matter if he makes the claim that GeorgeW is the spawned lovechild of Adolf Hitler & the Chupacabras....well that's established fact, but anyways you get what I'm saying.
