| Registered members do not see ads. Register or logon for a better view. I'm so sick of seeing big business trying to incoperate Djing into their advertising and getting it wrong. There are a few examples of this that I've seen. I may be neurotic or just detail oriented or both but I just wanted to let people know what I've noticed and see if you have noticed some of these things also. Here's 2 examples off the top of my head. The first local advertisement is on the side of busses in the Miami-Dade area. It's for that radio station, I think power 93.1? Anyways it shows a picture (painted in street graffiti style) of a girl wearing head phones and a skimpy outfit, kneeling before a turntable (Notice I said 'turntable'). I'm sure some of you have seen this advertisment. The problem here is that she's on the wrong side of the turntables, or should I say "turntable" and her headphones are plugged into the turntable (which is supposed to be a Technics 1200) and not into a mixer. And she's supposed to be scratching the record but she's positioned on the wrong angle to do that...... The second mistake comes from a Mcdonald's "I'm loving it add". Sure they got the DJ booth set up correct. 2 Technics 1200's with a Pioneer DJM mixer (500 or 600 series)....But the DJ takes a bite out of his Big-Mac and puts it down on top of the deck plate on the turntable to his right (which is still spinning around with no record on it just the Big-Mac) while he's pulling off a record from the other deck but the DJ is still dancing like there's still music playing..... Now unless he had a 3rd table or CD player that I didn't see than WTF? What music would he be jamming out to? plus what DJ would put a Big Mac dripping with mayo and lettuce hanging down the side on top of his turntables (While they're still spinning non the less)? Unless he/she was severely "TWEEKED OR TWACKED OUT OF THEIR GORGE" I want to see if anyone else has catalouged some of these insults to DJ's and the dance music community.... Get it right big biz....Go down to Space or your local night club, find some DJ or the grooviest-groover/ club diva and hire them as a consultant first...Make sure they're credible. I'm sure any of us clowns in club land will gladdly take some bucks ($) from you so that you can get it right for once..... ![]()

| Non Sufficit Orbis | TV, movies, etc, never get anything remotely technical right...from the operation of firearms, musical instruments, medical procedures, and now it seems, DJing. Chris Rock messed up in "Bad Company"...before the CIA drafted him, he was playing in a club, and they showed him using the pitch control as a volume fader... I think the IMDB 'goofs' section has a lot of these..

| The worst commercial I have seen is the car add that says "Lets Rave" then shows a club scene....UUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I wouldnt take all this as an insult...the main focus of the ad isnt the turntablist...its whatever the ad is for. They are just trying to plug into the younger crowd. Im at least happy that they realize there is a whole culture devoted to this. |

I do agree that it's nice that they are realizing that there is a culture and a market within that culture but another F%$& up that MCDonald's did was another commercial, a more recent one in fact where they have a housey/hip hop track with a vocoded male vocal in the back ground and the lyrics imply that people should go to MCDonalds at 5AM after clubbing (The vocal says "It's 5 AM.... what's up with your friends?" and it shows the group going into a McDonalds) But the mistake there is, is that McDonalds isn't open at 5AM! And second, I don't know about you but I can't remember a time when I've been out at 5AM and wanted to go to Mcdonalds...(Maybe at 8AM) Maybe Mcdonalds should change their new slogan that's targeted to the underground culture from "I'm lovin' it" to "I'm hatin' it" because I know at 5AM most of us are "Hatin' it" Maybe I'm watching to much TV.....
