| Registered members do not see ads. Register or logon for a better view. Are all memory cards the same? I just bought a 512 mb Compact Flash, and noticed that the quality of pics and video looked different. Anyone?

| Non Sufficit Orbis | It's all zeroes and ones stored in the same fashion. An image shot on a 10D and stored on a Sandisk 512 card will look exactly the same as if you stored it on a Lexar 512 card. Only way it would look worse is if you changed the compression. Well, there's the 1 in a billion chance that a stray bogon slammed into a specific sector on your new card, corrupting a firmware instruction in the memory controller. Digital data is digital data, whether it is stored on a CD, CF card, xD chip, 3-D holostore cube or BEC lattice. It is all zeroes and ones, not subject to generational loss or degradation.
