christianity can be beautiful but when it has been prostituted like the Catholic church or when it's occurences of hypochrisy outweighs it's good deeds, it's no longer venerable. It has a long history of corruption and abuse of power. Including modern day. Think about it this way, when the Spaniard and Italians pillaged Latin America they would steal ship loads of silver and gold (two hundreds year's worth), where did most of that money end up... Rome (through purchases of indulgences and to buy allianceship with the most powerful political force in Europe for nearly 1000 years... the church) Their vaults house hundreds upon hundreds of years wealth acquired through rape and pillage. Every wealthy family Europe had a family member in the high ranks of the church, it was a business. Think about this, every Catholic church in the world pays a monthly duty to the Vatican (every single one). It possesses the wealthiest bank in the world. It sided with the fascist regime during WWII, not to mention the countless attrocities it either funded or kept quiet. The Jesuit priests are the biggest communist in the world (they essentially believe that Jesus was the first communist) and helped insurgent forces from Bolivia to Guatemala (and helped in every aspect), all funded by the Vatican.... yeah great religion setting wonderful peaceful examples. And finally if you're catholic and you visit the vatican, don't expect to feel welcomed to the "house" of your religion, you're made to feel inferior and everyone at the vatican is elitist. Yup great religion !!!

BCNJUNKIE you are correct in 100% of what you say. But it is people who do these ugly things in the name of religion. If they concentrated as much energy towards the beauty of what is being taught the world would be a better place.
