Rosenfels likely to start for Dolphins on Sunday

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Miami Dolphins third-string quarterback Sage Rosenfels will likely make his first career start Sunday against Baltimore in place of A.J. Feeley, who has a rib injury.

Feeley aggravated a rib injury in last week's 10-7 win over Cleveland and is listed as doubtful. Dolphins coach Jim Bates said that Feeley did not practice Wednesday and is not expected to to workout Thursday.

Baltimore (8-7) needs to beat Miami (4-11) in the season finale and then get lots of help to keep its playoff hopes alive.

Rosenfels has played in eight games during his three years with Miami, completing 4 of 10 passes for one touchdown and no interceptions. He's thrown one pass this year -- it was incomplete.

Rosenfels has become a fan favorite over the past three years. He received a loud ovation when he briefly entered last week's game.

"He came into the game for one play and everyone went nuts," defensive end David Bowens said.

Rosenfels hopes that the fans will feel the same way after Sunday's game.

"Everyone loves a back-up quarterback until he gets in," he said.

Feeley started eight games this season, but struggled throughout most of the year, completing 54 percent of his passes for 1,893 yards, 11 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He has grown into the role over the past two weeks, throwing for 374 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.

Rosenfels could be throwing to a depleted receiving unit, because Marty Booker is listed as doubtful with an ankle injury.

Booker started the first 15 games, catching 50 passes for 638 yards and a touchdown. Bryan Gilmore will start if Booker can't play.
