Well just check out the cover story on this site dated Jan 19, 2005. Why embelish? I ran a search of the forums on this site and there is not even a single discussion about the show. How is it that the only viable TV show featuring electronic music does in hte US does not have one dedicated thread. http://www.cooljunkie.com/clubs/what...ami_20342.html

| You need to try your search again. I know for a fact that Norah and David posted about it quite often. And we, the clubbers, usually like to talk about our actual clubGOING experiences, not our TV WATCHING experiences. ![]() |

| CoolJunkie | Hmmm...welcome, and how nice of you to be a dick so quickly. While you obviously have an agenda because you have a show on public access television, keep in mind that No Cover was on a real television station. Good luck with your show. |

| I will try my search again, but i'm actaully more interested in what those that are viewers as opposed to producers have to say. With respect to your club going experience vs. TV watching experience, given that there is no viable dedicated radio or TV outlet accomodating the genre's you're clubbing to, expect your club life to be impacted as club owners seek to drive profits by slowly making Friday night Hip Hop night.

| I'm a dick for questioning whether or not No Cover was popular? mmm... anyway, to your point, I don't have an agenda, a rising tide raises all boats. I play what I play and No Cover played what they played. You can't make people like what they don't like so where is the agenda. I'm not trying to convert anyone that can't be converted. I ask the question whether or not No Cover was popular, pretty simple question really. I don't dispute that No Cover was on a commercial channel but they are no longer, so what's your point?

| I'm a clubber but I didn't watch No Cover because 1. They never played the music I like and 2. I think Norah was one of the few on that show that really knew dance music. If more people on that show would have had the knowledge she does, I would have watched it more. The only one I really like (that I saw) was when Austin Leeds was on there. He played some really tripped out stuff and the dancers had no idea how to dance to it. I'm sure they were just used to dancing to trance or whatever... And for the record, I don't think you were being a dick. I think the question was valid.

| CoolJunkie | since i used to work for No Cover, i feel entitled to give a proper answer. the show was cancelled after nearly 2 yrs because the network had a major programming executive shakeup ...and also because let's face it, most music shows (unless it is urban music), change periodically in some way (host, format, etc). wlp, get a life - you start posting because "you care about what others thought about the show", if your ideas are so great why do you start a thread with a negative undertone anyway? sounds to me like you are just like the majority, talking the talk (punters that care about DJs noone listens to, people who don't want to pay club covers ever yet claim they know the "scene", negative comments, etc) YET ALL they do is basically nothing to help the electronic/ clubbing scene or their local talent. |

I’m not sure why you say my thread was negative, the question is, was the show popular, don’t speak around it. Even with an Exec shake-up, if the show was popular, it would probably still be on air, right? The Roof is still on the air and from a production quality standpoint, No Cover blows The Roof away. So then some debriefing is necessary to determine why it was cancelled, what could have been done better, or basically how could you get more people to tune in. I would argue that the show had some fundamental strikes against it, i.e Digital Cable only reaching 20 mm households providing niche programming (which most cable does today) but on a station whose mission is to reach young Hispanics, which (from a marketing standpoint) may further erode the viewer base. That said, I am curious to know from those that watched it, what they thought it lacked and from those that didn’t watch it, why not., though you claim I not being genuine in this outreach. As a person that did watch the show when I could, seeking out some artists appealing to me e.g. Louie Vega etc (by the way, I’m not sure your argument that I care about DJ’s that no one listens to applies in this case), No Cover interviewed Louie Vega, I believe @ Cielo for the release of the EOL CD, and then subsequently aired the Work video, which is not even close to reflective of the music MAW generally produces. Why not film the EOL band perform and air that, they were touring. Why air DJs, DJing, no disrespect but what is so appealing about that? Moreover, where was the No Cover website bringing the community together or maybe streaming parts of the show for those that don’t have digital cable but like the music and would love to see the show. This is a nice seg way into the term “Electronic/Clubbing Scene, the show only focused on electronic music, I did see as I stated Louis Vega, Marques Wyatt and Frankie Knuckles in some of the shows I saw but even beyond that, what about the Drum ‘n’Bass scene, are you saying that no cares about Andy C or High Contrast or Roni Size. In the actual interview, Louie Vega was asked by David Orth, where he thinks the scene should be going or how it can be improved and Louis Vega said, collaborations amongst the genres, and he specifically mentioned he would love to do a collab with Roni Size, I was hoping that the show would do a segment on Drum ‘n’ Bass, or Jungle or even 2Step for that matter. Just some corrections about me, Yes, I do have a public access show that has aired for two years in about 4.7 mm households in NYC and San Fran and yes, I do have a website www.whitelabelpressure.com, and no, I do not focus on DJs but artists, lets face it, they are the ones that make the music. So, am I doing anything to help the scene, it depends whether you term electronic/ clubbing scene includes me. I was actually dissed for having a public access TV show by macboy, who said that No Cover was on a real TV channel. It may make a lot of sense to build an audience prior to going commercial as, they may stay with you.
