DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. -- Authorities in Florida said a man accidentally ran over and killed his 3-year-old son while preparing to flee ahead of Hurricane Dennis. Authorities said the boy, along with his 8-year-old brother, jumped out of the van as their father was either trying to park it or back up to a trailer. They said the man didn't see the children and ran over the 3-year-old. Charges are not likely, officials said. Hurricane Dennis is packing winds of 100 mph and is expected to strengthen as it approaches the Florida Panhandle, where the family lives. Forecasters predict the storm to hit the U.S. anywhere from Florida to Louisiana by Monday.
