My nephew, who is only 2 months, is visiting right now for a week. My cat has been a jealous whirlwind since he arrived. She spits and hisses at him like he's another cat. Has anyone ever seen a cat act like that around a human baby before?

| friend of mine had to get rid of her cat when she had a girl. the cat would not get along with the baby and displayed similar behavior as yours. just be watchful and you should be be ok for the 2 weeks. best of luck.

| My cats love my little girl so much. When she cries, they come over to me and meow like crazy trying to alert me that something is wrong with her. They'll even go over to her when she's crying and rubb up against her to try and soothe her. Our older cat doesn't let us touch or pet her on her stomach but she lets the baby pet her. Our baby can grab the cats on their paws, tails and ears or whatever and the cats let her get away with it. Our little cat marble will stand up and hug the baby even when the baby is crying. But this one time the playing can get rough and our little cat 'Marble' jumped off of her kitty condo and tackled the baby. It looked like a scene from WWE..... But the animals are probably friendly with the baby be-cuz they smelled her in her moms womb since b4 she was born so they know her really well. Our cats are really social with people also. They're not the kind of cats that run and hide when peeps come over. One thing you might try to do is, if the baby is staying for a long period of time, get the cat something new. Like a new toy or a catnip scratcher. Something new that cat knows is only hers and hers alone. That might alleviate some of the jealousy. Our little cat Marble went though a phase where she was pissing in my dogs basket. We went out and got her, her own kitty condo and she since has stopped marking in our dogs basket. None of the other animals sit or go near her kitty condo and we've noticed that she's a lot happier.. Unfortunetly my advice won't save you a dime at the pump... 8)
