Americans are ready to help. Will our leaders show the way? Sept. 1, 2005 | The nightmare in New Orleans has a lot to tell us about poverty: the desperate poverty of the city's African-American population, of course, but also the poverty of political debate in the U.S. today. The crisis unfolding before us -- dispossession, looting, people shooting at rescue workers, the president's dim response, and now, people dying in front of our eyes outside the Superdome -– rubs our noses in so much that's wrong in our country, it's excruciating to watch. But I'm especially struck by the inability of our existing political discourse to describe, let alone to solve, the intractable social problems that have come together in this flood whose proportions and portents seem almost biblical. | Do you think everyone deserves the same thing? Every person is entitled to the same $$$, same clothes, same car? I listen to those people who are at the Superdome and feel bad for them but there isnt exactly a braintrust of intelligence hanging out there. It is going to be a very long time before they are back to their homes(if ever) and that is sad. However, my heart doesnt break for people who dont work, dont bust their ass and as a result dont have $$$. Not everyone is capable of the excellence.

[/quote]That's true. I was having this dissussion with my girl last night. She was wondering why there are so many poor blacks. I told her that (imo) blacks have had it bad here in America since the very beginning of it. White's clearly had a head start here. Whites were able to build generations of income while blacks were brought over here as slaves. The majority of rich blacks that live in America seem to be from up North. Why is that? Well we all know that the North abolished slavery. So blacks got their start there all the while generations of black in the south were still slaves. So slavery ends. You have a bunch of white people with a head start on storing up and building financial worth and enterprise and blacks just starting to come into their own.. Oh but then now after slavery blacks have to face a century or more of segregation. Therefore blacks couldn't earn as much as a white man could. Oh we forgot. Women couldn't earn as much as a white man could either... So this go's on until recently..how many years ago did segregation end? Only like 40 or 50 years ago. How many genreations of blacks is that to really be able to accumulate weatlh? How many generations of whites have already been able to accumulate wealth..? Don't forget about the Indians also..We know their story by now.. So is the race card a vaild one? Yes it is...Do the balcks have a reason to be angry? I can surely understand that.. And the last time I checked Saleen...Italians were white....Oh well some of them are dark skinned only because the Moors conquered southern Europe and fucked a bunch of italian women so that's why you have some dark skinned and dark haired italian peoele... Isn't that ironic Saleen and Trancepriest? Both of you have black in you.......LOL... So on a way Saleen being Italian, he can play the race card to since he probably has African in his ancestory!! LOL...
