Default Sat, June 20 - Deepsky & Darin Epsilon @ Circus in Hollywood

Saturday June 20 - DEEPSKY @ Circus
Opening set by Darin Epsilon

For 15 years, Los Angeles-based Jason Blum has wielded this magic, working under the moniker Deepsky to transcend the boundaries of electronic music with an impeccable blend of heart-stopping melody and rhythmic intensity that fuels headphones, car stereos and massive PA systems with equal effectiveness. Songs like Talk Like a Stranger, Stargazer and Ghost have taken global dancefloors by storm, working crowds into an undulating, fist-pumping mass, then coaxing them back into blissful serenity before opening up the throttle once more. Ask anyone who knows and they’ll preach the same gospel. Deepsky is sensory stimulation at its highest level—a rare intersection of inspiration, perspiration, technology, and emotion.

With a decade and a half invested in the dance music scene, Jason’s accomplishments as a producer and DJ are well-known to newcomers and industry veterans alike. The 1996 release of Stargazer catapulted Deepsky to worldwide recognition and launched a career that has since encompassed over 300 live and DJ performances, 16 original releases including the critically acclaimed full-length album In Silico, and over 30 remixes for world-class artists including Madonna, Seal, David Bowie, Paul Oakenfold, and The Crystal Method. Infusing these pop icons with the Deepsky style brought a new group of listeners into the Deepsky fold, with both Madonna remixes enjoying number one slots on the Billboard Dance Charts, and a nod of recognition from Remix Magazine as they named Deepsky Breakthrough Remixer of the Year for 2003.

The last few years have seen Jason working tirelessly to enhance Deepsky’s inimitable sound, and recent tunes exude a new confidence and style. This dedication has paid off handsomely—the dancefloor stormer Talk Like a Stranger received heavy rotation from top jocks including Oakenfold, Sander Kleinenberg, and Deep Dish. The most recent collaboration with Motorcycle’s Jes Brieden, Ghost, has also stormed top crates around the world and found its way into numerous mix compilations including Armin van Buuren’s wildly popular A State of Trance 2005.

If studio productions are the engine driving this worldwide success, then the incendiary live and DJ performances and broad media reach are Deepsky’s fuel. Deepsky’s live gigs are the stuff of legend in the American dance scene, integrating live musicians with synchronized video to create a multimedia experience that stimulates every sensory input. In smaller venues, Jason’s skill as an accomplished DJ shines through as he blends genres to whip crowds into a fist-pumping frenzy. His XM Radio show Fundamental reaches hundreds of thousands of subscribers across the nation, and a robust Myspace following over 55,000 fans strong is testament to the fact that Deepsky’s reach extends well beyond the dancefloor and into homes around the world.
