Audion aka Matthew Dear - Spectral



: Matthew Dear's most recent excursions have found him at the doorsteps of the minimal-but-funky regime of techno music. Inspired by pioneers like, Mike Inc., Thomas Brinkmann, and Ricardo Villalobos, Dear has ingested, manipulated and re-introduced his version of this always changing and innovative realm of sound creation. Recent acceptance into the legendary Plus 8 roster and ever-popular Berlin based, Perlon label has solidified Dear as a viable source for pushing the boundaries of modern dance music while at the same time remaining focused on the simple goal of making people dance.

Ellen Allien - BPitch Control




Like a lot of dance music producers, Berlin's Ellen Allien has had her hands in just about every aspect of her field. Allien's immersion into dance music began during an extended stay in London, at the height of the acid house phenomenon. Shortly after returning home, she got into DJing and, by 1993, she had spun at Fischlabor, Tresor, and a number of other significant clubs. Throughout the remainder of the '90s, she hosted programs on Berlin's Kiss FM, worked at the Delirium record shop, operated a label called Braincandy, and threw a number of parties called BPitch Control, which led to her label of the same name. She eventually became a noted producer; along with a slew of 12" releases, she issued the full-lengths Stadtkind (2001) and Berlinette (2003), along with the mix album Weiss Mix (2002).


Richard Devine - Warp/Schematic (killed it at interface)

Richard Devine is one of the most talented (if not prolific) of the producers organized around the Miami neo-electro haven of Schematic Records. Based in Atlanta, Devine's productions have the rigid breakbeat swing of prime electro recordings, but also a high degree of DSP (digital signal processing) magic in keeping with Schematic's acknowledged heroes, Autechre. After EPs for a sublabel of Woody McBride's Drop Bass Network and the Devine EP on Schematic, the producer began getting a reputation in advanced electronics circles with remixes (of material by Aphex Twin, Chris Deluca, Slicker, and Schematic's own Phoenecia) as well as compilation appearances (Ischemic Folks and Lily of the Valley, both on Schematic). Turned on to Devine's work by praise from Autechre and his remix of Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy," Britain's Warp Records hired him in 2000 to record a full-length. The results, Lipswitch, were jointly released one year later by Schematic and Warp
