Thought all of you frontrunners would be interested: From the Sentinel: Victory parade starts at 2 p.m. Friday in Miami By Sarah Talalay South Florida Sun-Sentinel June 22, 2006 The Heat is inviting fans to help commemorate its first NBA Championship with a parade and celebration beginning at 2 p.m. Friday at AmericanAirlines Arena. The parade will, as Heat coach Pat Riley envisioned, travel down Biscayne Boulevard from the arena, but the exact route is still being determined, Heat officials said Wednesday evening. The parade will end back at the arena, where it will culminate with a celebration on the venue's steps in a style similar to the gathering when Shaquille O'Neal was introduced to South Florida in July 2004 and promised to bring a championship to Miami. Fort Lauderdale officials are hoping to host a boat parade with the Heat on the New River on Saturday afternoon, but as of Wednesday evening the Heat had yet to commit because of a player schedules and logistics, Heat spokesman Tim Donovan said. He said so far one parade was scheduled at the Heat's home arena. "We play in South Florida. We have a lot of fans from all the counties," Donovan said. "We'll have the parade at our building and we want everyone to come and enjoy it regardless of where they live." Copyright © 2006, South Florida Sun-Sentinel |
