ok so im a hospitality major and im taking a class on bevg law. legally manufacturers of alcohol such as jack daniels are not allowed to sell to the public directly and must go through wholesalers or distributers. ok so.. if i remember correctly Global Gatherings festival was a bacardi event and all they served in that festival were drinks made from their rum.

firstly i dont see how or why it would benefit bacardi to sponcer an event if the wholesaler still had to sell the alcohol to the organizers of the festival

and secondly "exclusiveness" is technically illegal, meaning bacardi would not be allowed to be the only option a consumer had at the festival... can anyone clear this up??

If you look at the Bacardi building, the sign out front says that they are a wholesaler under federal law.

Dude, if you are a hospitality major and you don't know why an alcohol would sponsor a giant festival...

And why do you think exclusivity is illegal. If it is my festival, I can sell anything I damn well please in there. Or not sell anything.

In Miami it's usually 3 distributors: Southern Wine, Premier, and National. If you run a retail store or a bar/club then you can only buy from these 3. If you get caught selling stuff purchased at Costco or Publix then you'll either be fined or your license will get revoked.
Not sure how the whole Bacardi/GG thing worked out but I know that you can get Bacardi, Absolut, and other brands to sponsor your events and promote their products in return. Not sure whether it's done through distributors or straight through the company though.

Most of the time you go through the company, but you can do either. And Liquor companies put up big money in this market; which anyone who has gotten sponsorships in the past would know. And

We have had many companies be the only option at events! And so has every club in Miami and in the world at one time or another!
