Here is a screen shot of DDR's set on Live 4 ![]() The DDR live set is an improvised jam on classic's from his back catalog, current and future releases and some never to be released pieces that will only be heard as part of his live act. A unique experience for every event, never to be repeated performances are powered by Ableton's fantastic Live software running on an Apple Powerbook and a Mackie mixer that has had some major hot-rod work done to it. 8) 8) Ableton Live has recently replaced a large rack that contained a drum machine, sampler and sequencer that was the basis for DDR's live set for many years. Hardware was always a preference as no piece of software fully encompassed the improvised mode of playing, until Ableton's Live 4 ![]() +Info: Sobebeats.com

| CoolJunkie | i stopped reading after that... great, more people that have not used ableton and are ignorant as to what it even *is* or provides to artists coming from someone who has used vinyl and cd's for 6 years and ableton for 3, i will say that ableton expands on what you could already do infinitely...does having a CDJ1000 remove the art from dj'ing? you're essentially saying the same thing - they are both just tools people who think ableton simply makes dj'ing 'easier' have never used it - or never gotten that far into it im not going to go into why or how, this has been argued to death and i wasnt in traffic, i was with clients |

| I've never used the program.....so, I guess my reply is more a question. I'm guessing with that screen shot....and what I've been told. Ableton seems to give you many more ways to be creative...only thing that seems to be the issue....is the fact that you dont need to beat match. If that is the only issue.......well....so what. One thing that I have scene is Carl Cox incorporating Ableton with CDJ's....couldn't really tell what he was doing with it though... Maybe someone who knows a little more about the program could explain the pros and cons????????

| Ableton cant beatmatch by itself, you have to warpthe tune first. It usually takes me like 2-3 mins to perfectly warp a tune sometimes less than that. Cons: It doesnt really support mp3 afterall, it has to reencode the mp3 in to wave format. 20 tunes aprox 1.6 Gs of hardrive used. Can I have that screenshot in a higher quality? That way I can try to explain what hes doing. A screen shot of my live setup would be, 9 audio channels, 4 midi , 3 sends & around 300 scenes :P & yes, I love ableton.
