Irrelevant, really. It takes more than skill to man those decks.

I say maintain the current - residential after-hour event djs but bring in more out of town talent- not just the same ones that come back every month but a light yet healthy rotation....

Why keep doing the same thing? Miami is all about doing the same thing over and over till it's beat to death. I say find some fresh new talent that isn't grandfathered in with the club.

You're new around here, aren't you? Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

Yes I am new around here and I know that politics rules all club scenes in every locale in the wrold but damn, it would be nice to hear of someone else for a change other than the 3 djs that play week in and week out.

I tell everyone this, for that to happen, they have to get within the system to change the system. The Miami club-industrial complex is very resistant to attacks from without. Within, is another story. I've known people who played shit gigs, did the rounds, and now they've got plum slots at the top clubs in town. Doing the rounds is key. I've told a lot of new guys this, and that they can't be hermits, they gotta do the rounds.

I used to do rounds but with record releases and other out of town gigs it's almost impossible to do regular rounds. It seems that a lot of promoters don't really know what's going on in the global scene and that some of their local yokals are really doing the business overseas when they didn't even have a clue who they are or that said dj/producer lives in their own backyard. Note to promoters...watch record sales...club talk is cheap but record sales speaks volumes.

The "Miami Syndrome". You'd shit if you knew who lived here and never played out locally.

Oscar G was a victim of this for years until he landed the Space residency all those years ago.
