Thanks again to every one who came out and made the last Swirl Session another night to remember. Lets keep the great vibe going this coming Friday April 23rd. Terry Jasinto will be on the decks once again spinning a 6 hour set from 10pm-4am.

Terry’s versatility and unique presentation of cutting edge dance music has enabled him to share the stage with a variety of world renown DJs. House giants such as Doc Martin, Gene ferris and Mark Farina, and Progressive innovators such as Deep Dish, Jay Tripwire and Talla 2XLC are among this long list.

I always watch my levels when I play. I barely run it in the red. Karma isn't a place where the music needs to be blasted to loud anyways for it to be effective. Running levels to high is a trait of an inexperienced DJ... Also if you like deep, vocal house Karma invited me to do a deep house night their on Saturday May 22nd. you will hear more West Coast/San fransisco House that evening BTW is called 'Deep Analysis'....A Soulful House Examination!

Also on this note. If you are able to communicate with a DJ like you can at Karma, don't be affraid to tell him or her that the levels are to loud. A lot of times some DJ's can't tell unless they leave the booth and check it out for them selves. We DJ's first and foremost have a responsibility to the club/bars clients and doing our best to make them feel comfortable..Of course some requests may be not suitable but if they make sense and can only help a Dj create a better vibe for you and for him/her to work off on so be it.....

Deep House night sounds right up my alley...what style do you usually spin up there out side of that event. ANy comparisons to other Djs/Acts would help.

Thanks for asking. I've been a DJ for about 10 years now. I moved to Miami from Seattle a little more than a year ago. I've always been a house DJ. And back in Seattle I played several clubs on a regular basis playing deep house/ west coast house at one club and progressive house at the other. I've really been focusing on Progressive house the last 4 and a half years now. But I love deep house. And sometimes during a club night it's very approprate to play, especially when the night is just starting.

As far as a self comparisson to other DJ's whom you may be familiar with, it's a little hard to say because wheather i'm playing a little deeper or more on the Prog' tip the essence of what I play is the same. But I can say that for Prog House a few people have compared my sound to Danny Howells, Chris Fortier and at times Deep Dish (Whom I've spun with before). As far as deeper house which I throw into the San Fransisco Sound you can say that it has a little bit of that Miguel Migs (Naked Music)sound cross it with a little bit of, oh I don't know, have you heard of maybe DJ Buck or Kenny Hawkes?

See it's really hard to classify what I can sound like when I'm playing a little deeper. Plus each DJ is unique and what I'm explaining to you may make no sense if you heard me or it may make perfect sense. It all depends on my presentation and your interpetation of it.

I can tell you that being a DJ is something that I've taken very seriously for a long time, about a third of my life and any questions, comments or complanits I'd like top hear.

I definitely dig Hawkes, Buck and Migs...I think Kenny is amy producer of the them. I prefer Kenny & Migs as Djs. I'm much more into productions coming by Lawn Chair Generals, East Coast Boogiemen and Swirlpeople...that sort of vibe. I asked you to make a destinction because I had seen previous references to Gene Ferris and Mark Farina...I am originally from Chicago and grew up on that sound...as well as Derrick and Heather. I may swing by for your deep night...definitely would like to check that out.

I don't know how familiar you are with record labels but if you are maybe this will help with you question.

For Deep House some of my favorite labels are Airtight, Seasons recordings, Transport, Naked, NRK, Detour and for Progressive House/Tech House I like Forensic, Sumsonic, Tango, Oblong, SAW to name a few
