Instead of 9 finalist try 12 or 15 it will give more people a chance to show their stuff, plus you deserve a chance if you’re in the top 15 out of 200+. Some DJ’s sound better live then on a mixed CD and they might surprise you if you give them a chance.

My idea for scheduling would be to space the preliminaries out...say Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Last year, I got sick of staying in the same building three days in a row. Maybe it was the green.

Oh, and a suggestion to anyone using something to the effect of Final Scratch or Traktor...please make sure it is all in order. Last year, a semi-finalist had big issues with his rig.

12 or 15 will be too many for CJ to Judge .. unless theres like a quarter-final round before ..

The contest is great but i gotta say i have seen Diaga just in 3 different clubs since last year and thats about it ... i will actually be concern for the winner to see whats gonna happen to him/her after the contest ends ..

dont get me wrong, the winner will be part of DeckJunkie but more exposure for that dj should be great

Have a poll on the forums where people can vote for their favorite DJ of the night after the rounds, and incorporate that into the final decision. Any sort of popular vote would be nice. I also like the idea of expanding the number of finalists.

Is this spin off for anybody or just House because I sense a more acceptance to a person who plays House than a Techno or Trance DJ since they can easily blend to the usual format also since this is Miami. Well I am not trying to say Cooljunkie will vote for a House Dj but I am just saying.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention.

Since Diaga won, he has played in the following places:

Space (3 times)
Nerve
Privilege (you were there...)
Nikki Beach (WMC set...)
No Cover (live TV broadcast...)

He has also played several venues in his home country as well...and is big around here for private bookings...he's doing at least 2 or 3 private gigs a month.

I like the potential exposure that having some of the preliminaries at the Sunset Mall afforded, but the attendance seemed to be a little lackluster. I don't know if moving it would help, and I'd hate to lose that exposure, but maybe there would be a location where more people would come out. Or possibly some place with more foot traffic. Or maybe just make sure that the venue promotes it harder. Maybe have them at different venues, just for variety. But I really like the idea of having them at music stores, or some such.

More signage. Especially at the clubs. Let us know exactly who is up. More audience interaction.
