Default Dining in Downtown Miami

Well, it looks like I'm gonna *have* to make a visit to the mainland Saturday night for the Space Anniv, and I figured I might as well make the best of it. So, I was thinking of maybe checking out something new and having dinner over there. But, I don't really know anything about the area, so I need some recommendations.

Anybody know of any good restaurants nearby Space? I am looking for something in the Bennigan's price range, say $12 - $18, nothing too fancy. I know there is the Design District not too far away, or the 54th St Station, but I've never been to either. Or, if there is something closer or cooler, that would be great.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Bayside is horrible food and overpriced, if you must dine in that area, drive up to Biscayne going north and dine at Latin American Cafe on Biscayne....and for even better food, i'd go to Perricones .

Tobacco Road is really good, too...and it's (allegedly) Miami's oldest bar!

South on Biscayne, west @ 7th, it's on the right

I've only been to Perricones for lunch. but it's great. Didn't know it was open at night, I thought it was only a lunch place. Go there, unless you want to hear some original live music, then take the sugestion of the person above me and go to Tobacco Road. Food is fine and inexpensive.
