Default Why 100% good reviews suck...

There are so many reasons. But most importantly...

DJs are human. That inherently makes them imperfect. Kissing their ass by writing a great review will do nothing to pinpoint the areas of their talent (or lack thereof) that could use improvement. A kiss-ass review will certainly boost their (usually) over-inflated ego. But that's about it.

I realize that there are many CP'ers/CJ'ers who have close working relationships/friendships with many local djs. If you had a good night, fine. That's wonderful. Constructive criticism is not about writing 3,000 words that could have just as easily been expressed by sticking your nose up your favorite dj's ass. By nature, reviews are part subjective. It's unavoidable. But there can be an uncompromised balance between objectivity and subjectivity. If a dj was blowing the fucking horn to cover up a night of train wrecking, don't say that his/her mixing was on point. If the crowd was standing around picking their noses and flicking their boogers at the booth, don't say the party had a great vibe.

The incessant awesome reviews about every dj's set on any given night have really crossed the line denoting lameness. It's like crying wolf. It's gotten to the point where I can't trust anyone's opinion of any dj because everyone is great, every party had a great vibe, lighting and sound were unparalleled and the entire night was just peachy. Realistically, that doesn't happen. So if you want to write an awesome review about an awesome night that touches perfection, do it on a piece of paper and then wipe your ass with it! ;D
