ProgressiveHouse.com Review

Darin Epsilon, no relation to Kosmas of the same surname, returns with a double A side EP: “Stormchaser” on Moon Tribal Records. Darin is no stranger to progressive with his latest track "Kwaidan" storming the prog charts just recently.

This EP starts with the KILLER title tune "Stormchaser." Make room for this big prog number! The intro marks the direction of the track: phat beats, strong bassline and soon synth stabs start to show. The melody and bassline start talking beautifully to each other to bring what is most needed in today's electronic music: emotion! The melody in the track is slightly old school but still retains a modern edge that just feels right in all the spots. Peak time people! Background ethereal vocals add more flavor until you reach a massive breakdown where the bassline, melody and vocals just build energy ‘til it explodes. Perfect tune for the last peaktime tunes of the night. This one goes straight into my chart!

For the B side, things get mellow when compared to Stormchaser. “Daybreaker" is more of a by-the-numbers prog tune. Early on we get a glimpse of a melodic synth and a groovy bassline, suitable for a mid set placement. The track keeps adding melody lines to the groovy bassline. Things continue throughout like this, making it a perfect bridge track between harder tracks.

Darin is not afraid to show his melodic side throughout his music productions and this EP is no exception. Stormchaser is BIG, make no mistake, it’s worth your investment alone.... go fetch!
