| Tuesday, June 22nd at Sin Sin 8pm-2am $3 Domestic Beer All Night Long Mike Bryant (Rhythmic Inc/Intrinsic Design, NYC) Originally from Muncie, Indiana, Mike’s passion for forward thinking music came at an early age. Not satisfied with the dribble of pop radio and early MTV, he turned to his mom’s record collection for something with a little more substance. Here he found an array of diverse artists and innovative music; records from Thomas Dolby, Brian Eno, Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, Tangerine Dream, Adrian Belew, & J.J. Cale (to name a few) caught his ear immediately. These artists laid an early foundation for anything with an edge. Later on he became enamored with various forms of underground music – punk, alternative, electro, new wave and industrial all helped to shape his musical tastes. But it was hip hop that really turned him on to electronic music as an art form, particularly the DJ. Though vaguely familiar with the Rave phenomenon happening in the UK, it wasn’t until tapes of Chicago radio mix shows started to trickle into his hometown that he first discovered House - Acid House to be exact. This was it. The void was filled. He began to immerse himself with every mix tape and silly Rave compilation he could get his hands on, and eventually hooked up with like minded people, including David Hollands (Minimal Wage Records) & Linus (VA Recordings) who were just beginning to DJ and throw their versions of Rave parties in and around the college town where Mike grew up. Needless to say he became a regular at their events and soon other events that started to pop up around the Mid West. It was at one of these events, sometime in 1991, where Mike first heard Richie Hawtin DJ, who’s futuristic techno sound turned his whole world on end. He was hooked and there was no turning back… Mr. Robb (Signal-E.com/Robb Audio) Techno Dj, born in Lyon, France, residing in New York for the past 4yrs. Influenced early by classic rock & 70’s progressive rock bands, evolving into love for electronic acts such as Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, Yello Magic Orchestra, Kano & Tangerine Dream. First started djing in 1983-84, playing a mix of urban rap/electro & pop. Mr. Robb aka Robb Jeter, recognized by Mixer Magazine as one of the top 200 Mover’s & Shakers at the 2002 Miami WMC, has made a name for himself, coast to coast as a master of the art of mixing, practically flawless. His sets are noted for it’s raw energy & impeccable timing, often pushing the crowd to a complete frenzy. With musical stylings ranging from techno to tribal-tech-house grooves, the DJ booth is the control center from which Mr. Robb's sets infiltrate, mesmerize and move listeners' minds and bodies. His track selections can be described in three electrified words: powerful; driving; intelligent. Mr. Robb, as the East Coast representative for Imperial Dub Recordings, home of Sunshine & Moonbeam of Dubtribe, Corey Black, Cosmique Jason and DJ Drez (with whom he frequently performs on the West Coast, and just released their first E.P., "Child’s Play" for Imperial Dub, under the guise "Los Sonadores" showing a lighter house side), is the key element that will transport the distinct energies from Deep Unda Brooklyn to the four corners of the globe in 2003. He will soon have original tracks available on the eclectic Elastik Recordings label, owned and operated by DJ Jagz, destined to be in every record collection. According to Mike Bryant, DJ and head of Intrinsic Design Records: "Mr. Robb is one of the most versatile DJs I've ever heard. He's able to go from deep tribal house to tech-house, from banging techno to classics without missing a beat, which involves an immense talent and knowledge of dance music. Truly a DJ who has his finger on the pulse of underground dance culture."
