![]() PURE MUSIC FESTIVAL TO TURN DOWNTOWN WEST PALM BEACH INTO AN ELECTRONICA FAN’S FANTASY FEATURING: GEORGE ACOSTA STEVE PORTER BABY ANN EVOL INTENT JEN LASHER WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Downtown West Palm Beach is set to host the hottest, hippest music festival to hit the Palm Beaches. The PURE Music Festival, taking place at the Meyer Amphitheater on Saturday, January 3, 2009, would literally blow the roof off – if the Meyer actually had one. This gathering of electronica’s brightest stars features headliners George Acosta and Steve Porter. Acosta has helped change and evolve trance from an underground movement to massive festival experiences around the world. He is arguably America’s most unique DJ and a major force in shaping the sound of Trance in Miami and beyond. DJ/production phenom Steve Porter’s prolific productions have garnered international attention and are propelling him into America’s future DJ-cum-producer star. Porter just released his first-ever mix compilation “PORTERHOUSE” with 26 tracks melded together in his signature genre-defying, pulsating, energetic Porterhouse style. The album merges his DJing and production style with nine of his own original tracks, further blurring the distinction between DJ and producer into one compelling artist to watch. George Acosta and Steve Porter are joined in this epic day of dance, delight, dark wonders and total elation by Evol Intent, a high-intensity hardstep drum and bass/IDM group formed in Atlanta eight years ago with a rep for dark melodic beats clashing with evil grinding bass and harsh drums, a swift and very aggressive style that devastates dance floors. The group is comprised of The Enemy (Ashley Jones), Knick (Nick Weiller), and Gigantor (Mike Diasio); Baby Ann (featuring Darling Nikki), aka "The Bass Queen" who has blazed a trail across America and beyond with her DJ sets and original productions. Her signature recipe is a delicious fusion of Electro and Miami Bass seasoned with Funky Breaks. Her musical influences range from Miami Bass stalwarts Dynamix II and AfroRican, to overseas tunes by Kraftwerk and 808 State, from statesiders DJ Icey and Information Society to a host of Funky Freestyle records from back in the day; and Jen Lasher, a singer, songwriter and DJ who is quickly making a name for herself in the electronic music world, creating a niche with her noir and original music. After years of classical piano training, Jen was inspired to spin and create electronic music. Her music combines electro, funk and new wave with gothic and industrial overtones. The PURE Music Festival is an an all-day, all-night extravaganza of multiple DJs playing House, Trance, Drum N Bass, Breaks, Electro, Industrial, and more. “Our love for this music, its diversity and the energy it brings is why we’ve created the PURE Music Festival,” says Frank Cavallino of the events’ production company, Apex Management & Productions. “We get to do what we love,” adds Apex Management partner Ilia Mogilevsky. “I am quite excited to bring my music to West Palm Beach and join all of these up-and-coming DJs and musicians to create something never before seen in this area. And to do it all in a waterfront setting and a really hip, happening club scene makes it all the sweeter,” says headliner George Acosta. In addition to 16 hours of electronic music and serious styling starting at 2:00 pm, at 10:30 pm the party moves to select downtown clubs along Clematis Street . Live broadcasts from multiple radio stations add to the excitement, along with a vendor area in case anyone runs out of glow sticks, cool t-shirts, needs a beverage (alcohol or straight), needs food to fuel more dancing – it’s all there. General Admission tickets start at $25 per person, and VIP Tickets, at $75 per person, entitle holders to two free drinks, a PURE hat and T-shirt, and admission to all after-parties. Tickets can be purchased on the PURE website HYPERLINK "http://www.puremf.com" www.puremf.com The event is being produced by locally based Apex Management & Productions.
