| CoolJunkie | I've heard its a gorgeous place with good food. Sounds like it would be perfect for a luncheon type event. Its one of the places I would like to go to during Spice

![]() [/quote] T, like coach mentioned, a lot of the seating is outside. there is some seating inside in the more intimate bar area, but it's very limited. outside, there is shade over the dining area, they have a fan for every table, and it has a nice, tropical garden atmosphere. at night it was warm, but during the day it would be brutally hot. so on to the review. going into the night i was considering the idea of tossing out the Spice menu and going with something off the regular menu. however, once i sat down and gave it another look, i talked myself into it. it helped that most of the entrees alone start around $35 and up. ouch. appetizers: torchon of foie gras - (sorry Terry). not something i would order regularly, but the way they prepared it sounded very interesting. the blueberry "gastrique" was a little overpowering, but other than that it was good when eaten with a piece of bread. salmon ceviche - sent over compliments of the chef, as the reason for my meal there was because my friend and the head chef have a mutual friend, and we made a point to name drop on the way in, lol. not bad. crispy chick pea ravioli - off the spice menu. a breaded ravioli served with veggies. i liked it a lot. entree: roasted pork chop - off the spice menu. one perfectly cooked, thick chop. i was apprehensive about the flavor at first, as it came served on top of "chorizo-clam hash", which sounds like a fancy name for smoked bacon. to my surprise, this combo won me over as i continued to eat. i realized i made the right choice for entree. thumbs up. dessert: creme caramel - off the spice menu. "florentine" cookies seved with a little custard (anglaise). not bad, but very chewy. i also sampled the other spice dessert, which was rocky road cake served with a mini milkshake, and liked it much better. i chose poorly. i complimented this with a Mondavi dessert wine, which was nice. the presentation and the service by the staff were both top notch. and last but certainly not least, the wine menu might be THEE BEST i have yet encountered in all of miami! at least as it pertains to reds. they have a phenomenal selection of quality choices all over the price spectrum. from pinots to cabs to europeans, merryvale to opus one to sassicaia. according to their website, Wish was rated one of the top 50 hotel restaurants in the US by Food & Wine Magazine, and are rated a 4 star establishment. i would label the cuisine as "different", at least to me, but i think they earn every one of those stars. also worth mentioning, The Hotel has a nice little rooftop bar with a great view, and a nice breeze. worth checking out for a drink if you are ever there. ![]() Wish At The Hotel 801 Collins Avenue Miami Beach, FL 33139 305-674-9474 ![]()

| CoolJunkie | Thanks for the review JMT! This is now definitely on my spice to-do list. They really make it look splendid on their website, too. Due to the outdoor seating and lack of business-friendly equipment, we decided to do the luncheon somewhere else, but if anyone is interested the pp price is very good for groups
