I went to the River Oyster Bar last night for Miami Spice Dinner. There were a few things on the spice menu online that intrigued us but when we got there we found out they changed it a bit. Here is what the menu was changed to (at least for last night)

Appetizers
- Corvina Ceviche with chiles, cilantro, lime and pickled red onions
- "Caldeirada" Fisherman soup
- Oysters

Entrees
- Monkfish paelle sofrito, chorizo, roasted red peppers, fresh peas
- Grilled Escolar with Chinese Black Bean Sauce, Wok Seared Shitake Mushrooms, Bok Choy and Peppers
- Churrasco, grilled skirt steak, chimichurri, sour orange yucca frites, grilled vegetables

Dessert
- Coconut Flan
- Chocolate Mousse Cake with a cookie crust and whipped cream
- Warm berries cobbler

For my appetizer I chose the Corvina Ceviche and my friend chose the fishermans soup. My ceviche was great and it was a pretty big portion. My friend really enjoyed her fisherman soup, I tasted it and it was good but I'm not a big fish soup person.

For the entree I chose the Monkfish Paella but was told upon ordering that they were out of monkfish and it was going to come with shrimp which i was fine with. It came out with 4 big shrimp which were very tasty. The paella rice itself left me unsatisfied, i've had better. So I just ate the shrimp out of my dish. My friend ordered the grilled Escolar and thankfully she couldn't finish it because it was delicious and I helped her out with it.

For dessert I ordered the chocolate mousse cake and my friend ordered the cobbler. My cake was delicious! I love chocolate mousse to begin with and this cake met my standards. I didn't try the cobbler but she said it was very good as well.

Overall it was a very good dinner. The service was excellent. Our water was always filled on time and even though the place looked pretty busy the food came out pretty quickly. If you go check it out I recommend the ceviche, escolar and chocolate mousse cake. I believe I heard our waiter say they change the menu every week but i'm not sure. Also if you like oysters I was told this is the place to go for them. I'm not a big oyster person so I can't tell you from experience.
