Daily Music Beats: 'Notorious' DVD Released

Earlier this year, Fox Searchlight released a film simply titled ‘Notorious,’ a biopic about the iconic life of hip hop mega-star Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. Biggie Smalls. Definitely influencing the voice of the generation, Biggie’s story was told from his humble beginnings in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn, to his demise that came in the form of a bullet in Los Angeles. Every step of the way, the audience is able to see how the man lived, what went through his mind, and what a tragedy it was for him to be taken away from the limelight and his family so early into his life. It uncovers the complicated relationships in the rapper’s life, from Lil’ Kim and Faith Evans, to the friendship turned sour with Tupac Shakur.

If you didn’t get a chance to catch this flick in theaters, today is your opportunity because the DVD has been released! We’re definitely psyched about this release and suggest that everyone give it a try. Featuring great performances by Angela Bassett, Brooklyn rapper Jamal Woolard (who plays Biggie), Derek Luke and Anthony Mackie of 8 Mile, this one’s sure to please whether you were a fan of Biggie or not. But who wasn’t a fan of B.I.G.???
