Brand new mom M.I.A., might have been a little disappointed last night when it came time for the Academy Awards. Although it was said that her song was a bit of a long-shot in the category, it was her Slumdog Millionaire counterpart, A.R. Rahman, who walked away at the end of the night with awards for Original Score and Original Song. Rahman’s superb work deserved him both awards, as this year’s ceremony didn’t come with any surprises, like 2005’s Three Six Mafia shocker, which did garner a lot more respect for the award show. After performing two weeks ago at the Grammy’s with a belly that was about to bust, M.I.A. gave birth to her baby boy just hours after her performance.
