There’s nothing better than a 7-piece Canadian rock outfit that are said to put on one of the best live rock shows around today. That’s right, I’m talking about Montreal’s own Arcade Fire. When it comes to putting musical instruments into good use, look no further than these guys. But as much as the public may love em’, there’s always that other side to a band that many people may not know about. Luckily for us, there are other musicians who witness this and sometimes have the balls to come out to the media about it. Enter Wayne Coyne, the lovable frontman of the legendary Flaming Lips. He recently spoke with Rolling Stone’s Andy Greene and spilled the beans on how he really felt about the Arcade Fire, and what many people may not know about the band. Here’s just some of what he had to say:
"I'm a fan of them on one level, but on another level I get really tired of their pompousness," says Coyne. "We've played some shows with them and they really treat people like shit. Whenever I've been around them, I've found that they not only treated their crew like shit, they treated the audience like shit. They treated everybody in their vicinity like shit. I thought, 'Who do they think they are?' I don't know why people put up with it. I wouldn't put up with it. I don't care if it's Arcade Fire or Brian Eno. If either of them walked into a room and treated people like shit I'd be like, 'Fuck you, get outta here.'
