If you're not from New York, chances are you've only heard the name Jonathan Peters before in passing. Or regarded him as "that DJ I hear all the New Yorkers talking about".
For awhile, Jonathan Peters, or JP, as he is known to his fanbase, was largely a New York phenomenon. With residencies at places like Club USA, Roxy, Exit, and his now-legendary seven year run as the Saturday night resident at the Sound Factory, JP established himself as "the" New York DJ. Drawing an average crowd of around 4,000, and 8,000 or more on his special theme nights, his 20-hour sets were always a must-see, even if you weren't a fan. When the Sound Factory closed, JP continued onward, performing at other venues in New York, including the Factory's successor venue, Pacha.
JP also took the opportunity to hit the road. Gigs in Brazil, France, Japan, and Italy followed, along with an increased following in the United States. Along the way, JP transitioned from the traditional methods of DJing, to a more interactive and live-oriented performance method, culminating in the "woman" behind JP, "Samantha".

For those in the know, Samantha is the result of a few years of development by JP and his team. Samantha consists of two Macintosh computers outfitted with custom software and controllers to manipulate and create sounds and compositions on the fly. With this, JP doesn't merely play tracks, he often creates and manipulates them beyond what your run-of-the-mill DJ does. Her exact specs are constantly changing and are somewhat of a trade secret, but JP's fans are pleased, according Samantha almost as much fame as JP himself.
Recently, JP's made forays into the notoriously hard-to-crack South Florida market. With recent gigs at Bacardi B-Live's Global Gathering, 2 appearances at Space, and now an upcoming Memorial Day gig at Gryphon, he's definitely making his way into the area. He will be playing Gryphon on the 26th of May, and as always, we have presales available.
