COOLJUNKIE.COM, A MIAMI-BASED ENTERTAINMENT WEBSITE, TO BUILD AN ONLINE GLOBAL ENTERTAINMENT RESOURCE
MIAMI — CoolJunkie.com is a leading entertainment website, receiving over four million hits per month. Created by entrepreneurs Sarah Dawson and Nick McCabe, CoolJunkie was launched in Miami in November 2000, and in New York City in June 2002.
CoolJunkie covers nightlife news; club listings; music, club and movie reviews; DJ interviews; art and culture news; restaurant and hotel information; and worldwide music events.
‘The aim of the site is to build a online global entertainment resource’,
says Sarah Dawson. ‘We will launch sites in several major worldwide cities, each with specific location information.’
In addition to the website, CoolJunkie is also an event organization and promotion company. One major CoolJunkie event is the ‘DJ Spin Off’, an annual DJ competition, where aspiring DJs contend to win various prizes. The 2002 DJ Spin Off promotions reached almost 300,000 people in South Florida.
CoolJunkie has promoted several Winter Music Conference (WMC) events,
including the One Live In parties during WMC 2002 and 2003, in partnership
with the U.K’s BBC Radio 1.
CoolJunkie’s latest venture is the electronic party pass. Using the latest technology in club admission, CoolJunkie has created a credit card sized pass which allows the holder free entry into most Miami clubs. CoolJunkie will also install electronic will-call systems, allowing members quicker access into the venues.
