Park West Nightclub

From the team that revolutionized Downtown Miami with the groundbreaking Space, and spearheaded the revitalization of Washington Avenue on South Beach with Cameo and Vice, comes the latest additions to Eleventh Street: Park West Nightclub.

Occupying a cavernous converted warehouse in the booming Entertainment District on Eleventh Street, Stereo will cater to the dancefloor and aesthetic sensibilities of the experienced clubgoer and neophyte alike. With extensive video systems, a technologically advanced LED video wall, as well as decor elements taking cues from fine art, the Far East, and Japanese animé, Stereo promises to inject an elegant feel into the area.

Rehab, the dark and dirty little sister, will be, of course, bringing a rock and roll element to Downtown Miami. With an edgy alternative sound and live bands performing often, it is the perfect complement to Stereo.

Ensconced within the confines of the Sagamore Hotel, Social is a new concept in dining and nighttime entertainment, a "culinary lounge experience", in the words of Mr. Chodorow. Gather to indulge in the joys of food, drink and conversation and savor the experience inside, in the gallery dining room, art video lounge and bar or screening room, or outside, in the terrace, video garden, private living rooms or pool bar and grill.

Tobacco Road, open since the early 20th century, is one of Miami's oldest liquor-serving establishments. Withstanding the sea changes of " Prohibition, The Great Depression, Deadly Hurricanes, Disco, Cocaine Cowboys, South Beach and Hip Hop", Tobacco Road has been a perennial favorite to locals and tourists alike. Presenting live bands every night from the local to the legendary, the venue has played host to such legends as Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Bob Dylan, and many others too numerous to mention here. In addition to the excellent selection of live music, Tobacco Road has a menu of no-nonsense definitely-not-healthy fare including prime rib, nachos, filet mignon, and some of the best strip steak in town.

O Asian Grill is the newest addition to the ever growing and spectacular collection of restaurants on Lincoln Road. The cuisine, described as Asian Fusion by owners Alan Roth and Eric Levin, is a tasty range of Asian fare – from traditional Japanese barbeque to Japanese sashimi, designed by Jeffrey Klein and the famed Nobuko Kang of Matsuhisha Aspen. By utilizing Sumi, a Japanese charcoal that is made from firing oak and bamboo in a clay kiln at temperatures over 1000 degrees Celsius, O Asian Grill transforms delicate yet flavorful dishes like stuffed mini bell peppers with Kobe beef burger and lotus root with foie gras into culinary works of art.

During the day, the restaurant features the upscale Noodle Shop, a quick and convenient noodle counter, but as night falls, the O Grill opens, and guests make their way to a lounge atmosphere designed by Scott Kester, featuring private dining rooms complete with mini bars filled with the latest in Asian wines and spirits.

The focus of the space is the stage – a 20’x20’ fully equipped 3 foot high platform positioned in the back of the club that can be seen unobstructed by up to 600 club goers. Elevated alcoves along the sides of the stage form VIP areas furnished with plush purple couches and low petit-four stools, which curve into a dark teak dancefloor.

Just past the front entrance of the rectangular club is the large, ovular main bar, complete with a glass box suspended overhead for live-action entertainment which has most recently housed a ballerina, a tea party, and all three Studio A in-house dancers. Positioned above the bar is a halo chandelier that creates a ceiling of light, echoed in the mini chandeliers throughout the club. Two additional mini-bars are positioned in the rear.

Snatch

Located in the notorious Liquid space on Washington Avenue in Miami, Snatch heralds the return of pure, high-quality entertainment to the South Beach nightlife scene. Inspired by decades of rock n’ roll decadence, Snatch’s eclectic décor and innovative concept provide a much-needed retreat from the overbearing attitude of the South Beach scene.

South Beach’s social elite check their attitude at the door in this sexually-charged, neighborhood rock-and-roll lounge. A good-time hangout of locals, models and celebrities, Snatch offers unreserved revelry to the soundtrack of rock, hip-hop, and classics.

A multi-ringed circus of activity, Snatch delights the senses from every angle. Twelve-foot mirrors etched with the likes of Jim Morrison and Axl Rose reflect the up lit central bar. Plush couches nestle against the exposed-brick walls, autographed photos of past and present rockers punctuate the ground floor and authentic concert posters from the past three decades plaster the bathroom walls.

A glass-encased Rose Bar flanks the staircase and enormous American flags conceal most of the windows looking out to the street, allowing furtive glimpses from both inside and out. Louie, South Beach’s only mechanical bull, taunts patrons from the front of the house. The mezzanine level provides a comfortable perch from which to view the chaos below. A custom crafted billiards table anchors the upstairs space and mismatched Louis XIII furniture, complimented by several leather swings, allows for a more leisurely approach to decadence.

The Gryphon’s architecture combines stylish, innovative and modern design elements, highlighted by a dramatic ceiling installation. Lavish banquettes surround the European-style recessed dance floor, providing ideal seating for bottle or cocktail service from the two bars.

The elevated VIP room, which can also be booked for private functions, is separated from the main room by a hedge colonnade inspired by Cirque du Soleil. Several openings in the colonnade allow VIP patrons to survey the room below them where intricate lights, stunning fabrics and elaborate stage sets blend together to ensure a seamless sense of fantasy and escape.

A spin-off of the enormously successful Pangaea lounge in New York City, Pangaea Hard Rock in Miami is the next chapter in what has been called a New York nightlife institution.

Meaning ‘all lands’ in Greek, Pangaea is an appealing mixture of Asian, African and European elements. The atmosphere of Pangaea Hard Rock pays tribute to the Dark Continent, with West African adobe structures, animal skulls, spears and cartographic art.

Candlelight casts eerie shadows across tribal artifacts, conveying the sense of being on an elegant Serengeti safari. This beautifully finished interior also features airy cotton sheets draped high above wooden tables and plush lounge seating.

From the DJ booth elevated above the back bar, the DJ plays international lounge beats, house, rock and hip-hop accompanied by live rhythms of Congo drums, tambourines and maracas.

The addition of separate outdoor garden seating marked by an elaborate fire pit, beckons all to become part of the party at Pangaea Hard Rock. The patio also provides a tranquil option for sunset cocktail receptions or to simply celebrate under the stars.

Pawn Shop

The Pawn Shop nightclub is a wonderland of nostalgic furniture, collectibles, historic pop culture icons and secondhand items which all act as living art. The façade of this 1930s (you guessed it) pawn shop remains intact complete with red letters screaming “we buy diamonds” and “we buy gold.”

Doors opened in October 2004, as one of the first entertainment venues to begin the revival of downtown Miami. The concept was brought to fruition by managing partner Kurt VanNostrand, a 17 year veteran of the hospitality/nightlife scene, who thought people were tired of the fabulous crowd of the South Beach scene.

The amusement begins from the moment one steps in line – door man Alan T, dressed in full regalia (most nights as a police officer), welcomes guests via bullhorn then escorts them to the door, which doubles as a Pepsi machine. Once inside, party-goers can relive their childhood by sitting in a 1977 Blue Bird school bus, jumping aboard a vintage Boeing 727 jet airplane fuselage or setting up camp in a 1960s Air stream Trailer.

A locals' bar with attitude, this place rocks, especially later on in the evenings when you're likely to be assaulted by flying napkins and pole dancing punters.

The owners have long time beach experience and with happy hours, drinks specials and themed nights, they know what it takes to get people in the party mood.

It is open every day and night and they also serve food. There is no cover and no velvet rope drama. Go as you are and have fun!
